Wyndham is the largest timeshare operator in the world, with 900,000 families owning timeshare or vacation ownership products as part of the Wyndham Destinations umbrella company. With such a robust operation managing a diverse selection of vacation programs, owners looking to sell their Wyndham timeshare or points have a great opportunity to tap into the demand generated for these travel products.
Wyndham has become the giant it is today as a result of acquisitions, as well as the growth and development of new programs as timeshares evolve to meet the needs of today’s travelers. To date, there are four brands that come under the Wyndham timeshare banner:
Club Wyndham
WorldMark by Wyndham
Shell Vacations Club
Margaritaville Vacation Club
Overall, there are about 230 Wyndham timeshare resorts that fall under one of the brands mentioned above. Because of this diversification, it is important to know exactly what you own when looking to sell your Wyndham timeshare resale.
For the purposes of this article, we will be discussing specific information about the Club Wyndham program.
While Wyndham primarily sells points-based vacation club products through its sales centers, there are a number of owners who still own timeshare weeks with Wyndham at specific resorts through earlier purchases and Wyndham timeshare resales. When putting Wyndham timeshares for sale on the market, you’ll need to be as specific as you can about the type of product you own, as well as which program it comes under.
At its core, you will either own a timeshare week or Wyndham points, regardless of how it has evolved through the system. Refer back to your ownership documents and, if applicable, your ownership deed to see exactly what you own before putting your timeshare up for sale.
Even if you own points, it may be with a specific type of points program, which will affect the resale process. Wyndham points mainly come under the Club Wyndham Plus program and primarily break down into one of two categories:
Club Wyndham Select – points are deeded to a specific home resort
Club Wyndham Access – points are not deeded to a resort
For points owners with the Select program, owners usually promote their timeshare by placing their points under their home resort profile, since many buyers will search for a specific resort or destination.
When it comes to Sell a Timeshare and how our platform works, Access points owners have their own specific profile in our system where they can upload their details.
Because of the automated nature of our system, sellers need to make sure to place their Wyndham timeshare details under the correct profile to minimize confusion with the buyer.
Once you have your ownership type or program verified, make sure you have identified specifics such as:
Timeshare: your week number and unit number if applicable; fixed, float or flex status; the number of bedrooms and bathrooms; annual or biennial ownership; the season of ownership; and view.
Points: number of points; annual or biennial ownership; the season of ownership.
These are the details our system will ask for and knowing your specifics will allow you to advertise your Wyndham timeshare resale in minutes.
Several conversion programs are currently available where Wyndham owners can convert their timeshare week into points, but not all conversions are permanent.
For instance, Wyndham also owns RCI and offers the opportunity to convert into RCI points, but RCI points don’t always transfer to the resale market. In this case, your ownership may revert back to the original timeshare product when placing it up for sale, so check with your resort to see if your RCI points will transfer.
Wyndham also operates Personal Interval Choice Plus, which is a way to convert weeks into points each year and is offered on an annual basis. These conversions are not reflected in the resale market.
For those who may have questions about Wyndham Rewards, remember that Wyndham Rewards is a hotel loyalty program and Rewards points are not timeshare points. While you may have previously converted timeshare points into Rewards points to use at some time in the Wyndham hotel network, this action does not translate to the resale market.
When researching how to sell your Wyndham timeshare make sure you know exactly what you own, even if it means contacting your resort or Wyndham directly for verification.
A major advantage of working with Sell a Timeshare is our relationship with one of the Featured Resellers approved by Wyndham to provide resale assistance and resources to owners, Timeshare Broker Associates. As a licensed broker, TBA is able to work with owners to explore ways to sell their Wyndham timeshare and perhaps streamline the sales process due to their direct relationship with Wyndham.
Our operation has more than 20 years of experience putting timeshare sellers in front of resale buyers, and the best part is there is no pressure to take part in the program. An estimated one million consumers a year use the Sell a Timeshare platform for information about buying or selling timeshares.
Sell a Timeshare is the online ecosystem owners need to be a part of when choosing to market their Wyndham timeshare for sale.
As an automated process, you choose to participate on your schedule and upload your information at your leisure without needing a salesperson. And the program is free to use, which you may say is really the best part!
